Wind Engineering Manager

We are currently partnering with a prominent global Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a presence in over 10 countries to identify a dynamic professional for the role of Wind Engineering Manager.

Role Overview: As the Wind Engineering Manager, you will report to the Head of Engineering and play a pivotal role in providing technical support to local project teams and corporate business assurance across all aspects related to wind asset engineering and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the wind engineering and technology area within the Engineering function, responding to business needs for assets in different stages (development, construction, and operations), and for M&A opportunities.

Develop, implement, and maintain management processes, guidance, and standards related to wind engineering and turbine engineering, ensuring adherence to such processes.

Recruit, develop, retain, and lead a high-performing team of wind experts.

Provide technical support to country and corporate teams throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Proactively share knowledge and experiences with other departments across the business.

Develop business understanding and capability in turbine health monitoring, predictive maintenance, and diagnostics.

Act as a central point of coordination for wind engineering and turbine-related issues.

Assist in turbine selection for development projects, including evaluating turbine technology and site suitability.

Act as the technical lead for turbine supply, service, and maintenance negotiation and procurement.

Define standards and scope for turbine inspection and commissioning review during project delivery.

Support Asset Management in reviewing turbine performance during the early phase of project operation.

Lead technical due diligence for wind operational projects and contribute to the assessment of risk and opportunity for potential acquisitions.

Develop DEVEX, CAPEX, and OPEX assumptions.

Key Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:

Degree qualification in mechanical or aeronautical engineering or an equivalent discipline.

Demonstrable experience and expertise in wind turbines, gained from working on operating renewable power projects.

Experience in team management is encouraged.

Depth of knowledge of wind turbines and subsystems.

Detailed knowledge of wind turbine suppliers and models.

Understanding of certification, suitability, and fatigue modeling.

Experience in negotiating turbine supply and service agreements.

Familiarity with SCADA monitoring software and third-party data analytics tools.

Experience with vibration-based condition monitoring.

Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication skills, including building relationships across diverse cultures.

Flexibility, openness to new ways of working.

Strong drive for results, setting challenging goals and exceeding them.

Fluent English speaker.

Willingness to travel internationally.
