Minimum qualifications:

  • LLB or equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in strategically addressing, minimizing, and avoiding risk in matters involving products, regulation, engagement with legislators, political scrutiny, or similar.
  • Experience managing projects and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
  • Experience in litigation, criminal, or regulatory enforcement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, analysis, and investigative skills.

As Strategy Counsel, you’ll be asked to identify and address the most significant current and emerging risks related to all aspects of our businesses in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. You will work closely with Google and other Alphabet companies’ Legal, Data Security and Privacy, Public Policy, Office of Compliance and Integrity, Communications, Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams to identify, prevent, and proactively solve and adapt the way Alphabet conducts business to account for these risks.

Responsibilities
  • Identify potential or emerging internal and external risk pertaining to all aspects of Google and other Alphabet companies’ businesses in EMEA.
  • Evaluate those risks to determine which are likely to materialize and identify strategic ways to mitigate those risks.
  • Undertake and strategically manage special projects to address risk and increase Alphabet’s resilience to risk, including proactive compliance measures.
  • Respond to incidents and help address urgent, unanticipated risks.
