The Challenge

We are looking for a lawyer specialized in data protection and, ideally, consumer law, to join our Legal and Privacy team. Online platforms such as Wallapop offer unparalleled efficiences in access to markets and are crucial in our current economies, however, they are not easy from a legal perspective. Our business is diverse and complex so we are looking for a passionate lawyer who is ready to accept the challenge! What You Will Do
Partner with all key business areas, in particular the IT Security team, to ensure data privacy issues are considered at the outset of new projects, products and initiatives
Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends, and best practices related to Data Privacy and Consumer Protection Laws
Reviewing contracts (including model clauses) and consents needed to implement projects from a privacy and consumer protection perspective, as applicable.
Participate in the ongoing reviews of Wallapops privacy governance framework.
Monitoring changes to privacy laws and consumer protection laws and making recommendations and suggestions to adjust Wallapops documents and practices accordingly
Assist in the preparation, review, draft and negotiation of contracts data processing agreements (DPAs), data sharing agreements and other data protection related agreements.
Reviewing the terms and conditions of Wallapop and ensuring they are updated to existing regulations at all times.
Being the point of contact for data protection authorites
Advise internal clients (i.e. the rest of Wallapop teams) on legal matters surrounding data protection and consumer law.
Work closely with external counsel on certain regulatory and operational matters.
Assist with the ongoing development and delivery of legal and compliance policies, procedures and processes.
Study and analyse new Spanish and European regulations, identify the main terms to be implemented and assess the attached risk properly.
Advise (or assist with the advice) on information security, privacy and data protection
What Were Looking For
Degree in Law with strong academic credentials.
Masters degree, certification or similar course in data protection (underway or already completed).
Excellent level of English so that you are a fluent speaker and you may draft and review agreements in English too.
Open to provide legal guidance across a wide variety of legal issues to business stakeholders.
Passionate about fast growing companies and tech-driven businesses.
Membership at a local bar is preferrable but not mandatory.
You show curiosity and interest to learn about the regulatory framework applicable to platforms (learn & grow).
Tenacious and very driven professional (dream & deliver).
You understand the overall needs and priorities and you create strong collaborative relations with others (one team).
Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona based. We work in a mostly remote capacity offering great flexibility to our employees, but we believe in the power of getting together regularly in our office. As a first iteration, we expect a 4+ day/month office attendance for which the specifics are decided on a team level.

Culture-Add Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapops purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.
