We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities associated to Nutritional strategies for calf recovery after transport

Research Field Medical sciences » Veterinary medicine Education Level Master Degree or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

Candidates must hold one of the following degrees:
Veterinary, Science Animal Health, Science Animal Production, or similar and have completed their studies leading to such an award in January 2018 or later.
A masters in animal science/animal nutrition.
Not to have a previous PhD degree.
Previous experience in animal experimentation would be valued.
Candidates who have been chosen for an interview with the selection Committee, should bring o send for the interview a certified copy of the degree and/ or master, as well as the academic record showing the marks of all subjects studied.
Specific Requirements

Desirable requirements
Demonstrated experience in matters of nutrition.
Demonstrated experience in management, and gut health in calves.
Strong interest and basic knowledge in Animal Nutrition.
Good communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Driver licence
Languages ENGLISH Level Good

Benefits

The financial remuneration for the PhD Student contract will be €1.329, 92/gross per month (€18.61888/gross per annum) and for the first and second years. For this third year, it will be €1.42491/gross per month (€19.948,74/gross per annum) and for the fourth year it will be €1.781,14/gross per month (€24.935,96/gross per annum)which will be subject to the corresponding withholdings, pursuant to prevailing regulations, and to the collective employment agreement of IRTA.

IRTA will also pay the fees of the doctoral school when receiving the enrolment.

A 35-hour working week, involving working from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, will apply from 15 June to 15 September, and from 27 December to 5 January, provided the corresponding hours are made up beforehand. The same times will apply on Maundy Thursday, 23 April and 24 December.

Employees have an annual holiday entitlement of 22 working days (from Monday to Friday), 5 days of them can be done individually, and the rest in no more than three separate spells, before 31 December of the year in which they are due.

Employees to whom the collective agreement applies are covered by group insurance against accidents

Selection process

Selection Committee:

. Interview with preselected candidates.

. To send an e-mail for those who have not been selected by the Selection Committee.

. Committee Selection Agreement with the selected candidate, giving reasons for the rest to be excluded.

. Notification by e-mail to the candidates who have been interviewed but not selected.

(10-15 following working days)

To send to HR all the needed official documentation in order to make the work contract and co-ordination for establishing the start of the employment (12-16 following working days).
