Patient Advocacy Manager
The Position
In Daiichi Sankyo we put the patient at the center of everything we do. That is why we are looking for a Patient Advocacy Manager to join the Oncology Business Division of Daiichi Sankyo Spain, responsible for the development and implementation of the patient strategy for Oncology. This position will report to the Oncology Communication & Patient Advocacy Lead for Spain.
This position will have a close collaboration locally with the Head of Oncology, Medical Director, Leadership Team and Brand Team, as well as with Europe/Global.
In addition to developing the companys relationship with oncology patient associations, you will play a strategic role in supporting our patient-centric approach, designing and implementing the strategy with patient associations, developing and expanding the current network of patient associations, and listening, learning, empowering and collaborating with them to develop actions to help address their challenges and needs to ensure that our activities reflect their priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Position Daiichi Sankyo as a patient-oriented company in oncology.
Improve understanding of the perspective of patients with different types of cancer, identifying and analyzing trends and/or changes, to drive the development of initiatives that have a positive impact on people with cancer.
Contribute to the education of patients in the area of oncology to involve them in decision making about their disease, as well as help them understand all aspects of their disease, treatments, adverse effects and especially clinical trials.
Gain a deep understanding of the associations ecosystem by identifying, establishing and continuously developing the Oncology Units relationships and serving as the companys primary point of contact for oncology patient associations.
Work cross-functionally with the different teams in the unit ensuring the execution of activities that help respond to patient needs.
Develop and execute the annual patient plan:
Identify, promote and oversee initiatives and materials related to cancer patient education;
Organize projects and events relevant to patients and participate in those promoted by associations.
Develop internal activities to reinforce our patient-centered mindset and ensure that patients needs remain a priority in all activities of the Oncology Unit.
Establish and maintain relationships with medical-health institutions and centers to promote oncology patient support programs. Act as a liaison between our company and these institutions to ensure effective communication and address patient needs.
Represent the Oncology Unit before authorities and policy makers to promote patient-centered policies and better patient access to oncology treatments.
Skills and qualifications
University education in health sciences.
Professional experience in the above tasks in a patient organization or pharmaceutical company.
Strong knowledge of the oncology specialty, including current treatment options, emerging therapies and challenges faced by cancer patients. Networking in oncology.
Strategic capability.
Oral and written communication skills to interact in a relevant and effective way internally and externally in Spanish and English. Other languages valuable.
Empathy, emotional intelligence, flexibility and creativity to adapt to a constantly changing, solution-oriented environment.
Ethical behavior, in accordance with company values and the Code of Good Practice of the Pharmaceutical Industry, respecting the autonomy of patient associations.
Leadership, teamwork and project management skills.
