Dr. Sergi Trias, who works the of the (Barcelona), is looking for candidates willing to submit a MSCA-PF project under his supervision in topics related to mortality, inequalities, multiple causes of death.
Dr. Trias is a demographer with research experience at the intersection of demography, social epidemiology, and public health. His work focuses on mortality patterns and trends, health inequalities, and causes of death, with particular attention to behavioural risk factors (such as alcohol and tobacco), educational inequalities, and multiple causes of death, often from a cross-national perspective. Methodologically, he combines demographic techniques with epidemiological approaches and large-scale population data. He is especially interested in developing projects related to population health, mortality inequalities, healthy lifespan, and the use of novel indicators to inform policy, and he is open to supervising projects aligned with these research lines, particularly in the context of competitive funding calls.
Eligibility criteria
MSCA-PF are for Postdoctoral Researchers of up to 8 years after the PhD. Applicants from any country may apply, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the submission deadline to the European Commission (9/9/2026).
Selection process
Applicants should check that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria and then send an expression of interest consisting of a CV, a summary presentation of the research proposal (c. 2 pages) and the contact information of at least two referees.
Expressions of interest must be submitted by email by February 28th. The title of the e-mail must be "MSCA application - Sergi Trias - your name and surname". Proposals will be preselected on the basis of internal evaluation.

In addition to receiving multiple feedback from your supervisor, if chosen to submit the proposal to the European Commission, you will also receive advice from a dedicated research advisor at UPFs Research Service, who will provide you feedback. Additionally, you will be invited to join an internal Info session where you will get to know the dos and donts of these fellowships.
