The Mission

The Sustainability department at RWEs unit Offshore Wind coordinates and drives the sustainability strategy and activities in our Offshore business. As a team we are shaping the way how we grow globally with the aim to position RWE Offshore Wind as a sector leader. Do you want to become our colleague and make a difference? You also enjoy engaging closely with external stakeholders to help advance understanding the Offshore sectors impacts and opportunities on the marine environment with your profound knowledge on marine ecosystems.

Main Tasks
Own and drive initiatives that enable us to achieve our (marine) biodiversity net-positive ambitions, focussing amongst others on:
Measuring and assessing the impact of Offshore Wind on the marine environment
Developing the knowledge base and guidance for a net-positive development of Offshore Wind
Developing cross-sectoral / multi-stakeholder partnerships for nature restoration and regeneration
Project manage such initiatives, including regular reporting on plan (budget, time, progress, performance, impact)
Provide direction and expert advice on sustainability, in particular (marine) biodiversity topics. Stay abreast of fast evolving landscape of these topics and serve as our subject matter expert, including frameworks, competitor & market analysis
Engage with academia, science-based NGOs and other partners to advance the understanding of the Offshore sectors impacts and opportunities on the marine environment
Steering of external partners and consultants where required
Support and develop additional activities in line with the Offshore Sustainability strategy and targets
Key Qualifications / Skills

From the moment you join RWE, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, we believe your starting point is:
Appropriate degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering or a related discipline
A couple of years of relevant professional experience in the field of consulting / project management on (marine) biodiversity / ecology, mitigating measures, nature enhancement and habitat restoration as well as management and monitoring in an international environment
Passion for the marine and coastal sector
A strong track record in collaborating and leading multidisciplinary marine and coastal initiatives with internal and external experts in an international environment
Good project management and organisational skills, including effective budget management
Ability to confidently engage with a wide range of international stakeholder groups including academia and NGOs
A thorough understanding of global sustainability trends, marine science & research and expert knowledge of the principles, concepts involved in the design, implementation, management and evaluation of biodiversity programs/projects, including the ability to interpret and advise on concepts and new approaches to biodiversity conservation and related challenges
Good command of MS Office, in particular PowerPoint
Business fluent in English. German and additional languages would be of advantage
Willingness to travel on a regular basis, including international business trips
