Opportunity for an experienced Land Manager to join an international utility-scale solar developer, based either remotely or in the companys Madrid office.
As a Land Manager, you will play a crucial role in the development team, responsible for identifying, securing, and managing land for solar energy projects throughout Spain. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and landowners to ensure successful project development and execution.
Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate suitable land parcels for solar energy projects, assessing their technical, environmental, and regulatory feasibility
Negotiate land agreements, leases, and easements with landowners, ensuring fair terms and alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
Conduct thorough due diligence on potential land parcels, including title searches, planning and zoning regulations, environmental assessments, and grid connection viability.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with landowners, local communities, regulatory bodies, and relevant authorities to address concerns, gain necessary approvals, and secure required permits.
Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, project managers, and legal professionals, to develop comprehensive project plans, time lines, and budgets.
Ensure compliance with all legal and contractual obligations related to land rights, permitting, environmental regulations, and community engagement throughout the project life cycle.
Maintain an up-to-date and accurate database of land assets, contracts, and associated documentation. Monitor land lease agreements, renewals, and financial obligations.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on land acquisition status, project progress, and potential risks or opportunities to facilitate informed decision-making.
Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and policy developments related to solar energy and land management in Spain.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in environmental science, land management, renewable energy, or a related field. A relevant postgraduate degree is desirable.
Proven experience in land acquisition, land management, or real estate, preferably within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar projects in Spain.
In-depth knowledge of Spanish land acquisition regulations, planning processes, and permitting requirements.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to establish mutually beneficial agreements.
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in conducting land due diligence, including title searches, environmental assessments, and grid connection assessments.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with landowners, communities, and stakeholders, and to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with GIS mapping tools and software for site assessment and constraints mapping is an advantage.
A proactive and self-motivated approach, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to solve problems creatively.
Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and information to inform decision-making processes.
