To drive its global expansion strategy, the Citi Commercial Bank (“CCB”) is deepening its presence in Spain to support internationally oriented Spanish & Portuguese mid-market companies. CCB’s growth plans are aligned to industries which are strategically important in the Iberian market, with a focus on the Industrials, Mobility and Healthcare sectors. We are looking to hire a junior relationship manager with experience in these focus sectors. Our new junior banker will have an opportunity to support the expansion of the CCB Iberian franchise.

The position requires several years of experience supporting senior relationship managers, but capable of driving business independently. The successful candidate should have a proven track record in executing opportunities for new clients, identifying new business opportunities, client coverage skills to deepen relationships, with ability to call at the Treasurer level. Strong corporate finance, credit, and transaction execution skills are required. Corporate and Commercial Banking experience is preferred, with good knowledge of Banking products. Solid understanding of the Industrials, Mobility or Healthcare sectors is preferred, with strong knowledge and connectivity in the local market.

Key Responsibilities:
Support Senior bankers on the origination of new, multi-product and multi-country client relationships for CCB Iberia, and manage those relationships on an ongoing basis. Own, respond to uncover, and anticipate future needs, roadblocks, risks and expectations.
Facilitate ‘One Citi’ client experience, by proactively leveraging and sharing Citi’s market leading insights, global network and solutions.
"Be the Best” for our clients by understanding and delivering on clients’ holistic operational, risk management, financing and strategic agenda. Identify cross-sell opportunities to deepen and increase share of wallet.
Collaborate and work closely with various product teams (treasury solution sales, trade finance, markets, corporate finance, capital markets, investment banking), Risk teams, as well as the broader CCB global network
Monitor and support product implementation processes, clients on-boarding process and manage sales CRM platform.
Manage the portfolio of the credit relationships, coordinate the end to end lending process, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms reputation and safeguarding Citi’s, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policies, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Verify adherence to global KYC (Know Your Customer) standards during the onboarding process and, on an ongoing basis, ensuring the appropriate compliance deliverables are met.
Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of banking, treasury / lending / markets products and processes, as well as a solid track record of providing effective and impactful support to senior bankers.
Experience in Commercial / Relationship Banking with international customers.
Demonstrate expert level credit skills, capable of structuring wide range of credit deals and working with CLM /Risk through the credit approval process.
Demonstrate an expert level of Early Warning Detection skills. Ability to follow through on risks / issues and track them to closure.
Must have a sharp business development focus. Demonstrate innovative and forward-looking approach to new opportunities.
A proactive approach in looking for ways to develop new and strengthen existing business relationships with clients, delivers a frictionless client experience.
Demonstrate thought leadership. Ability to create long-term trust and advisory based relationships will clients.
Ability to embrace new technology and understand the role Digitization plays in the experience that we deliver for our clients.
In-depth knowledge of regulations, market practices and bank operations.
Skills / Technical Competencies
Knowledge of Iberian mid-market segment.

Fluency in Spanish & English. Portuguese welcome (written and spoken).
Education Level
Relevant experience in the field of banking, relationship management, credit.
Graduate / Master’s degree.
This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015
