Offer Description
Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a phenomenon defined as a quality defect of enamel of systemic origin of one to four permanent first molars (PFMs), frequently associated with morphological and structural changes of incisors. Children with MIH-affected teeth face a number of difficulties in their life such as hypersensitivity and pain even during brushing resulting in poor oral hygiene, rapid caries progression and consequent chewing difficulties. Further, the low esthetics of the anterior teeth affected by MIH has a negative impact on childs self-esteem.
This project will aim to provide useful and distinctive information on the epidemiological, clinical, and structural characteristics of MIH to furnish a clear background on MIH disease. The project will focus on the mechanical, chemical and morphological changes that occur in MIH affected teeth and will also investigate novel therapeutic approaches in treating MIH-affected teeth.
