Head of Workplace Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Services (Europe)
As the Head of Workplace Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Services, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the well-being and safety of employees, promote environmental sustainability, and drive a culture of quality within the organization. You will oversee and manage all aspects of workplace health, safety, environment, and quality services, providing strategic direction and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Policies: Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures relating to workplace health, safety, environment, and quality. Ensure these policies align with local and international regulations, industry best practices, and the organizations objectives.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with local, regional, and international health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations. Monitor compliance and implement necessary measures to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and standards.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Implement effective safety measures and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses. Regularly review and update risk assessments as required.
Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on workplace health and safety practices, environmental sustainability, and quality standards. Promote a strong safety and quality culture throughout the organization.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses. Analyse root causes, identify corrective actions, and implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. Maintain accurate incident records and provide reports as necessary.
Environmental Sustainability: Develop and implement environmental sustainability initiatives and programs to minimize the organizations environmental impact. Promote waste reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible resource management practices.
Quality Management: Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality management system. Monitor quality performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance product and service quality. Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Communicate health, safety, environment, and quality-related updates, policies, and initiatives to employees, management, and relevant stakeholders.
Audits and Inspections: Plan and coordinate internal and external audits and inspections related to health, safety, environment, and quality. Ensure compliance with audit findings, track corrective actions, and drive process improvements.
Performance Measurement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of health, safety, environment, and quality programs. Regularly monitor and report on performance to management, identifying areas for improvement and taking appropriate action.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, quality management, or a related field. A masters degree is preferred.
Professional certifications in workplace health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) and quality management (e.g., ISO 9001) are highly desirable.
Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing health, safety, environment, and quality services within a complex organization.
In-depth knowledge of relevant local and international regulations, standards, and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct risk assessments and investigate incidents effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs.
Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices and initiatives.
Experience in managing audits, inspections, and implementing corrective actions.
Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
