Our Opportunity

Insurance Solutions within Business Technology Solutions seeks an innovative Technical Lead for a Guidewire based solution to support a global, business critical application.

In this challenging role you will oversee the application development team and the tasks they undertake to ensure delivery meets required Guidewire standards and quality. You will collaborate in a large team, primarily with the developers and IT Architect along with Business Analysts, testers, and business stakeholders spread around the world who work to build, implement, operate, and maintain new underwriting pricing products across multiple Commercial Insurance lines of business.

Additionally, you will have the chance to work in an agile environment collaborating and communicating with peers and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation on a daily basis.

Your role

As a Guidewire Technical Lead your main responsibilities will be:
Development team manager and coach
Motivating the development team, creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns and being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes
Close oversight of complex development work
Leads investigation and resolution efforts for critical defects and incidents
Keep up to date with industry knowledge and technology and capture opportunities to improve the codebase
Provides technical guidance with an eye for future proofing future upgrades
Defines the coding standards in conformity to Guidewire standards and best practices and guarantees developers adherence to these
Concurs with the scrum master to guarantee developers adherence to SDLC processes
Guarantees development processes are applied: automated code inspections, peer reviews, documentation
Owns design spikes
Analyzing existing codebase and schedule training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements
Supports Solution Design and BA activities (attend BA meetings with Business/SMEs on stories with backend complexity)
Your Skills and Experience

As a Guidewire Technical Lead your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Fluent in written and spoken English
2 + years in a similar lead role
3+ years in a Guidewire development role using PolicyCentre v8 or above
Clear understanding of integration patterns and Guidewires available technologies up to version 10
Clear understanding of Guidewires best practices up to version 10
Obsession for code quality and application of Guidewires best practices
Clear understanding of Guidewires Policy Center OOTB data model and product model. V8 or above.
Guidewire Policy Center Specialist or Ace certification, preferably in the integrations area. V8 or above.
Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges
Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Strong leadership and organizational abilities
Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
Analytical thinking and quick to identify problems
Affinity for detail, design, quality, process
Fast learning, self-motivated, proactive, and able to show initiative
Positive attitude with ability to adapt in a changing environment
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
Additional value for this role:
Certified in Guidewire Policy Center v10 or above. Specialist or Ace level
Certified in Guidewire Integrations v10 or above. Specialist or Ace level
Knowledge of Guidewire Cloud Platform innovations
Experience in performances troubleshooting on Guidewire
Experience in P&C insurance and / or commercial lines
Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
