The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a non-profit research institute based in Barcelona dedicated to advancing the understanding of leukemia and related disorders, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in 5 locations: i) Hospital Clínic, ii) Hospital de Sant Pau and iii) Hospital Germans Trias Pujol iv) Hospital del Mar and v) Hospital Josep Trueta Girona. IJC serves as a collaborative center for basic researchers and physicians to work together on fundamental clinical and biological aspects of leukemia. RESEARCH DESCRIPTION

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), is seeking for a motivated GENOMICS PLATFORM UNIT HEAD. The Genomics unit is a scientific and technological support unit for high level research projects in the Genomics and Epigenomics fields and assist researchers from the experimental design to the data analysis and interpretation. The Unit is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for microarray-based genome-wide DNA methylation assessment and microarray-based genotyping, NGS targeted sequencing solutions and pyrosequencing to analyse loci specific DNA methylation status.

WHAT WE NEED
PhD in life sciences with 10+ years of research experience.
At least 3 years of experience supervising and leading a team providing high-quality genome and epigenome-wide data.
Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals and high motivation for biomedical and translational research.
Long-time experience in experimental design of microarray experiments and Next Generation Sequencing, for epigenomic, genomic and transcriptomic studies.
Experience in massive sequencing techniques (NGS), preferably with Illumina platforms.
Experience in the analysis and interpretation of large genomic and epigenomic datasets.
Bioinformatics notions on NGS and genome-wide microarray-based analyses.
Experience in the genomic study of hematological neoplasms and/or solid tumors, and immune cells and microenvironment.
Experience in projects application, both public and private calls.
Excellent written / oral communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to think strategically
Proficient in writing and speaking in English.
Leadership and teamworking
Proactivity, initiative and solving problems ability
Organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
Capacity for analysis, data interpretation and supervision.
