Offer Description
The goal of this project is to build tools to better understand the economic impacts of the rapid transformation of electricity markets, and to help better design electricity markets going forward. The project will develop and implement novel statistical tools and structural models that contribute to our understanding of this rapid transformation. The research focuses both on firm strategic responses and investment (supply-side), as well as consumer behavior and welfare and distributional impacts (demand-side). The tools and models developed will help understand the impacts of the energy transition, both on the supply and the demand side.
Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
The successful applicant should be enthusiastic about research and motivated to apply their strong analytical and writing skills to the area of energy and environmental economics. Responsibilities will include data cleaning and econometric analysis, as well as assisting with data collection, designing survey instruments, preparing training materials for surveys, and conducting literature reviews. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in programming languages such as Stata, R or Python.

The applicant will join a vibrant Economics community in Barcelona and have opportunities to get involved with the academic life at the Barcelona School of Economics, such as attending classes and seminars. Past associates have gone on to Economics Ph.D. programs at TSE and PSE, or started a consulting career at Compass Lexecon.
The expected duration of the project is 1 year, Starting February 2024, with full-time dedication (37.5 hours a week), with workplace in the Bellaterra Campus, UAB and possibility of working from home some days a week.
